The Peter Mercer interview is now uploaded, give it a listen here; Peter Mercer Saturday, May 7th CBR2 InterviewWho is CBR2? CBR2 is an internet collaboration band that is sure to rock you every time. Check out this great interview during the Kephas Saturday night radio show. You can listen to some of their music here; CBR2Craig Currie (Taylormade), had an ichin to have a lead guitarist put some work on a power chord rhythm. Thanks to Mr. DJ Dave Cook for sending my name to Craig. We hit it off right away. We started working on Mind Asylum right away but we had no drummer or bass player. I really liked the way Rob played drums and his song "Throttle Up" is still one of my favs on IMW. So, I asked Craig to give Rob a shout. Then I remembered this awesome sounding bass on songs from Eloquent Edge and looked up on their page and asked Craig to give Bob Ross a shout. WOW! The music mesh is awsome. We all work very well together! Bob Ross - BassHi everyone! Many people just know me as the bass player for Eloquent Edge, or more recently as the bass player for for CBR2, or even from some of the collabs I've done with some of the great artists here at IMW. But every now and then I write something that doesn't quite fit into the Eloquent Edge sound and rather than just keep those songs to myself, I thought I'd put them up here. Eloquent Edge and CBR2 will continue to occupy a large chunk of my efforts, but for solo stuff and other collabs, this is the account I'll be using.I've been playing bass for some 30 years, and along the way picked up a bit of keyboards, and vocals, along with LOTS of composing and producing. Putting those skills together is what thrills me the most, whether with my band, solo, or collaborating with other musicians. But at the end of the day, it's all about the music, because that always comes from the same place...deep inside the soul.Rob - DrumsFormer pro drummer - many moons ago.Now - just loving music - listening - creating - growing - learning - making friends - sharing musical thoughts and ideas.Rob Robertson - GuitarI have been playing guiter since I was 10. I am self taught. Some the bands that I formed were Silent Rage (1980), Ozenroth (1985) and Darkwolf (1992 co-formed with Erik Olsen). I split from the band thing to focus on making an instrumental rock CD. I wrote and performed everything on "Monument to Nothing". I am really pleased at how well it turned out and am thinking about working on follow up CD in the future.Taylormade - Guitar Saturday, May 14th TommySixGun InterviewListen to some of TommySixGuns music here; TommySixGunI have a picture of me in a diapar, with a Beatle wig on and playing a toy drum...I was 26....just kidding, I was 2 years old.I grew up in a musical family, as seen in this video from New Years 1962; VideoI took piano, guitar and drum lessons from an early age on. I got to experience many wonderful things as a result of music. I marched in the Macy's Day Parade, played the halftime show at the Orange Bowl, and many other things. In the 80's, I played in bands on Long Island. Now I just play with myself....bwahahahaCurrently a dad, with two sons who like to jam with their pop. I also love to collaborate with Rob Masters, my kindred spirit. Thanks for turning me on to this place Rob.Hope to collaborate with more of you people. I love all kinds of music....anything goesBit of Tommy Trivia - I'm related to Santo and Johnny Farina, of Sleepwalk fame

April InterviewsApril 9, 2011IMW Guitarists Session 1Mike OlsonI'm in the Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida. I have a home studio in which I enjoy doing my own projects at my own pace. I paid my dues for too many years from Jax to New Orleans in a club circuit hair/metal band.Nick LaytonNick Layton is a Vancouver, WA based guitarist, instructor, recording artist and touring clinician. He has worked in a variety of professional music settings including teaching private and group lessons, as well as having been the Music Coordinator at both Chorus church in Southern California and Discovery church in Oregon. Nick’s debut CD entitled Storming the Castle was released in 2008.Layton has also released 3 powerful new instructional courses for guitarists who want to learn highly effective soloing concepts to help better express themselves. Phrasing Concepts for Rock Lead Guitar Soloing Killer Rock Lead Guitar Legato PhrasingInnovative Arpeggio Phrasing for Advancing Metal Players.Nick is currently working on new instructional products and has begun composing his second solo record due out in early 2010. Paul TauterouffI am a full time musician and guitar teacher living in upstate New York. I love all types of guitar music, including instrumental rock like Satriani and Vai, blues, fusion, ambient, progressive rock, as well as melodic and gothic rock and metal. Some of my favorite bands are HIM, The 69 Eyes, Charon and Evergrey.I also help other musicians through my job as co-manager of Tom Hess' Music Careers Mentoring program. it is very rewarding.I am a proud member of the band Vessel with two very talented keyboardists/ visual artists Dustin (aka mellow D) and Mary (aka Shan.) Thank you both for sharing your gifts with me - I look foward to many more collaborations with you!I also have a solo CD in the works. I plan to have it released by fall of 2010. Thanks to Dustin and the other great musicians here for getting me inspired to get off my **** and get writing. Thanks!I love IMW - great music and great people! Eric MaldanadoI started to mess around with the guitar when I was a little kid. My Dad had introduced me to the classic surf rock band, The Ventures & the legendary Santana. He then taught me some of the Ventures' classic songs such as, "Walk Don't Run", "Surf Rider", "Wipe Out" etc. Along with that, he taught me Santana songs, Cream songs & other classic rock hits. I soon lost interest in guitar after taking lessons from a teacher(due to playing repetitive chromatic runs way to many times)& decided to put the guitar down(I quit). When I turned 11 my life was changed. After learning about the music of the 80's, my mind was set on learning guitar. At the time I was mainly influenced by the legendary Eddie Van Halen & ex Duran Duran guitarist, Andy Taylor. I then started learning some Van Halen songs such as "Panama", "Unchained", "Dreams" & songs off of Andy Taylor's solo record, "Thunder". And that right there explains my first YouTube user name - Thunder9513. After that, I progressed pretty quickly as a player.Later on, I got into more flashy players like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoads, John Petrucci ,Gus G., Paul Gilbert & George Lynch and honed my "skills" as much as I could. I learned some of their songs and tried to understand how they thought while playing and I also adapted some of there methods to my own playing. And meeting some of them in person was also a big thing for my playing. My current favorite artists/composers are Alex Argento, Sebastian Persini, Aman Khosla, Rick Graham, Brian Bromberg, Jan Hammer, and Joop Wolters. My current favorite albums are "EGO" by Alex Argento, "It is what it is" by Brian Bromberg, "Out Of Oblivion" by Ethan Brosh, "Today is the Day" by Lincoln Brewster and "Passion & Warfare" by Steve Vai.My preferred styles of playing are Rock, Metal & Alternative Instrumental(which reflects the sound of my album). However, I do enjoy playing Blues, Contemporary Christian, Progressive Rock, & some Jazz. At the present time I still play guitar everyday. I record new songs every month and I am constantly working on my next album.I am very honored to be endorsing companies like DiMarzio, Morley Pedals, Halo Guitars, AWE-In-ONE Picks, Guitar Pro 6, Sonuus & AMT Electronics USA. I have used some of these products since I started out, such as, Guitar Pro, DiMarzio and Morley. I really believe in all these companies and I feel so blessed that they believe in me too.I am also now giving Skype guitar lessons via webcam to students in different parts of the world. I love teaching guitar, it forces you to analyze your own playing and try to explain how you approach things and find a way that the student should approach those same things with their own style. I have been teaching for a while now, and I really enjoy it. April 16, 2011Peter MercerI'm an amateur musician who has been involved in music for over 30 years now. I've played in bands and done some work in studios but now I'm happy to concentrate on songwriting and recording at home with the help of friends and collaborators from all over the world. The internet can be a wonderful thing.I've been a member here at IMW from when the site first started and before that I was a moderator at a similar site where I met Walt, Rylie, Rob, Tony and many of the other members here.Being on the other side of the world I am in a different time zone to most here, so if you're ever here at 2 or 3 am you might see me around.
